Windows, out of your way
Format strips out the background work, the nagging and the telemetry Windows ships with, then tunes what is left for the games you actually play. 60 tweaks, every one of them explaining what it costs before you apply it.
A debloat tool that keeps the receipt
Most optimizers are a wall of switches with no explanation and no way back. Format records the exact prior value of everything it touches, including the value kind, so restoring puts back a DWORD as a DWORD. That is what it sells.
Tweaks, each with its tradeoff written out
Games detected and tuned individually
Lines of usage telemetry, now and later
Six things it gets right
Reversible by design
The prior value and its type are journalled before anything is written. Batches are all-or-nothing, and a restore point is taken first.
Honest ratings
Every tweak states what you gain and what you lose. Safe by default, Balanced with a documented cost, Aggressive opt-in and marked.
No usage tracking
No analytics, no telemetry, no account in the app. It never touches Defender, Windows Update or recovery.
Scored for your PC
One number out of 100, broken down per category, with live CPU, memory, disk and uptime read straight from Win32.
Per-game tuning
15 titles detected from Steam, Epic and the uninstall list, then tuned against that specific executable.
A real journal
Every session listed with what it changed and a Revert button, still working months later even if the tweak has changed since.
A journal, not a promise
Each session records the actions it took and the exact value it replaced. Journal entries carry their own copy of the action, so a session stays revertible even after the tweak that created it has been rewritten or removed in a later release.
See how it worksHistory. Session contents are blanked here — the catalogue stays in the app.
60 tweaks, in 6 groups
44 Safe, 15 Balanced, 1 Aggressive. What sits inside each group is for licence holders, not competitors — the outcomes are not a secret.
Performance
Cuts background work that competes with whatever you are actually doing.
09Gaming
Frame pacing and input latency, plus the Windows features that get in their way.
09Privacy
Turns off the reporting and personalisation Windows leaves on by default.
16Debloat
Stops the apps and suggestions that reinstall themselves after an update.
09Interface
Removes the delays, prompts and animations that sit between you and the machine.
12System
Housekeeping and power behaviour, including the active power plan.
05Found automatically, tuned individually
Format reads Steam, Epic and the uninstall list to find 15 supported titles, then applies settings written for that specific executable. Titles you do not have are greyed out rather than hidden.
Cover art is fetched from Steam only if you leave that setting on, and never bundled.

The awkward questions first
No, and we would rather you heard it here than found out on your own. Format is not code-signed yet, so SmartScreen shows that warning on the first run and some antivirus tools flag it. Choose More info, then Run anyway. Signing costs about ten dollars a month and is on the list.
Two things. Your key and your PC ID go to our own licence server — that is what locks the key to your machine, and there is no third-party licensing company in the path. Separately, one message goes to a private Discord channel: whether activation was accepted or refused, the tier and renewal date, your PC ID, a masked key, your IP address, your Windows user name and PC name, the version of Format and the time. It exists to catch one key being used by twenty people. Neither happens during the trial. The privacy notice lists all of it line by line.
None. No analytics, no telemetry, no account inside the app. Besides the licence check, Format only talks to GitHub to check for updates and, if you leave the setting on, to Steam for game cover art. Turning that setting off stops it completely.
Format drops to the Free tier and tells you with a banner. Nothing is uninstalled and nothing is undone. Your history stays intact and you can still revert anything you applied, including tweaks from a tier you no longer pay for.
Not until we clear the lock. Your key binds to a PC ID derived from your motherboard and CPU, so a new board looks like a different machine. Ask in Discord and we will reset it in a minute — you keep the same key. Reinstalling Windows changes nothing and your key keeps working.
Three steps, no account to make
Your key locks to one PC the first time you use it. Format checks it when you activate and now and then after that; in between it works without a connection.
Ask for a key
Sign in here with Discord and pick a tier. Nothing to copy out of the app first, and nothing to pay for until you have decided.
Pay in Discord
Payment happens in our server, where you can ask questions first and see who you are buying from.
Collect it and paste
Your key appears on your dashboard. Paste it on the activation screen and press Activate — it locks to that PC, and nobody else can use it.
